Renewable Energy Sources Scheme in Greece
The Renewable Energy Sources Support Scheme in Greece, financed partially with auctioning revenues, aims to boost renewable energy production. The programme aims to support electricity produced from various renewable energy sources, such as onshore wind, photovoltaic, wind, photovoltaic storage, biogas, biomass, landfill gas, hydroelectric power, concentrated solar power, and geothermal power plants. The Programme led to a significant increase in the share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption. From 2013 until 2021, the Programme received €17 billion, of which around 1.8 billion (11%) were channeled from auctioning revenues.
